View hundreds of the “best-of-the-best” blooms as Dahlia Society members compete for ribbons in several categories, including: Best in Show; People’s Choice Award; Best Arrangement; Best Junior Bloom; and Nature’s Oddities.

An Annual Tradition

Each summer, on the third weekend in August, the Dahlia Society of California, San Francisco draws thousands of visitors to its annual show in the enormous Hall of Flowers. Growers from all over the state (and sometimes country!) bring their best blooms to be judged and awarded ribbons. 

You must be a member to compete, but the public is welcome to see this eye-popping event.

For Exhibitors & Members

Exhibitors age 18+ must be members of an affiliated or participating society of the American Dahlia Society.

  • Flower of the Year: Skip To My Lou

  • Arrangements Theme: San Francisco Icons

  • Exhibits must be in place by Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m

  • All blooms shall be shown as classified by the ADS or by the PSDC supplement (see Show Schedule for full details and exemptions)

  • All competition blooms must be grown by the exhibitor (excluding Sections H and I)

  • STAGING AIDS: No other flower, vegetation, or artificial or mechanical support shall be used in any entry except in arrangement classes. No material used as props in staging an exhibit is to show above the edge of the container.
