Why Give?
We are a volunteer-run organization transitioning into a 501(c)(3)
Our members volunteer their time and supplies to maintain the Dahlia Dell. We see firsthand how much this garden means to so many visitors, and our Society has ensured the garden’s success for over 100 years. Along with the dahlias, we strive to grow our community through public events and member meetings—and after the loss of our fiscal sponsor, we are thankful for financial gifts which support the future of DSCSF.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes! Donations are now tax-deductible!
Please note that the Society has applied for recognition, but has not yet been recognized, by the IRS as exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as a public charity.
Payments made to or on behalf of public charities are eligible for deduction as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
If, as we and our legal counsel expect, the IRS eventually recognizes the Society as a Section 501(c)(3) public charity, our tax-exempt status will be retroactively effective to the date of our incorporation on April 7, 2026. In that event, donations made after that date will qualify for the charitable contribution deduction, subject to your personal tax situation. Please consult your tax advisor about the deductibility of your gift.
Should you have any questions about our tax-exempt status, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Funds are used for rental fees for public events (like our Annual Show and annual Tuber Sale), and rental fees for our monthly member meetings. Funds may also be contributed to maintaining the Dahlia Dell (in addition to donations from our volunteers).
